Fabian Esamai holds an MBChB (University of Nairobi, 1978), MMed in Paediatrics (University of Nairobi, 1984), MPH (Johns Hopkins, 1996), and a PhD (Linköping University, Sweden, 2002). A Moi University faculty member since 1990, he was promoted to full Professor in 2005, served as Dean of the School of Medicine (2005–2009) and Principal of the College of Health Sciences (2011–2016), and has been Principal of Alupe University College since 2016. He delivered Moi University's second-ever inaugural lecture — the first by a paediatrician in Kenya.
